Maya turns 6! | Our Family Snaps

6 years ago we were in the delivery ward at the Mercy Hospital in East Melbourne waiting, waiting, waiting for the star of the show to arrive. I still remember hearing “Oh, she’s a redhead!” This never even crossed my mind, I didn’t for one second think that the hair my dad had once lost, may have landed somewhere else.

We love our fiery little redhead, we wouldn’t have her any other way. And tomorrow morning she will be waking up bigger and taller than ever, this is what she has told her classmates. This afternoon at school she explained that she wont be the little kid in the class anymore and pointed to the boy who picks on her pint size the most, and said “Did you hear me (insert mean boy’s name here)!!”

Happy birthday Maya Rose Sparkle Butterfly Princess Vale. We love you. x

Our Week in Pictures – Week 14 & 15 | Our Family Snaps

It is another 2 up Tuesday on a Thursday, here’s week 14 and 15.

Pepper looking for her first camera, frosty BBQs, studio building commences, cheeky bath times, sunday pub dinner with all babies, nathan ‘did lunch’, Pepper trying out Bunnings snacks and had a HUGE hair growth spurt (could they be related?), more open fires, some building progress, working bee, the cutest site manager in town, grandpa working his butt off, school pick ups, the sun arrived, party invites were handed out (24 of them!), two men and a baby, the sun went away, more studio progress, the pink door arrived, oh hi sun again!, flowers arrived on the scene, baking and batter eating and finally, Pepper and Maya discover the joy of mum’s heels!

This week’s soundtrack is, Jesus, Etc by Wilco (Yum, Wilco).

Building Day | Our Family Snaps

Building day, for our new studio, has been and gone and we are all a little tired from our efforts. We owe a huge thank you to my brother, Aaron, for all his hard work. He really did an amazing job, getting our floor and ceiling in over the weekend, and always with a smile. We still have plenty more the get done over the next few weeks, but it is nice to be able to start to see what has been in my head for so long.

We have been really busy so we have combined the last two weeks of snaps into one fantastic slide show – well, our folks will think so!

More cold days with Alfie at the park, many trips to Bunnings for studio building stuff, a visit from cousin Olivia, Maya moves into her new bedroom to make way for Katy, Pepper is still in love with the pussy cats, apple pie and ice cream for breakky x 3, colourful storage I was dying to find a use for and finally found, my temporary office, Pepper wth her new mobile phone and her first taste of play centre hell (well hell for me), picking daisies with friends, searching halls, pushing more furniture around, discovering a cool like cake shop in town (go Ballarat!), Maya caught up with her Melbourne BFFs for some birthday fun, Pepper got some more play centre action, I got to visit IKEA while Maya caught up with her dearest friends on the planet, sunrise train rides, more presents from Mazzy, snacks for Nathan, the building begins, oh and a masty looking thing from Aldi that Pepper LOVES!

We have been flat out lately, so it means there hasn’t really been time for many blog posts. But I thought I would wake up early just so I could let you know what we’ve been up to. Apart from building our new and amazing studio, we have been busy with our Tea & Jam sessions, school holidays AND doing some design work and photography for a few new businesses around town.

I know it isn’t something we usually post about, but we’d like to share, as I LOVE designing new stuff as well as taking snaps, in fact I have been a designer my whole life and I still like to do little projects here and there to keep my designer brain happy. Our weekly slide show is a bit late this week, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t take photos last week…

This time we have more cosy open fires, ipad drawing, Steve’s fish and chip shop time warp, fish and chips out the back of the car, throwing the ball with Alfie at Victoria park, frosty windows in the morning, helpful office assistant, a drawing of a flaffee (fluffy) cat, introducing Petite Miam yoghurt to Pepper, pretty Maya and an afternoon with Pep at the laundry mat – our washing machine broke down and has been wheeled out of the house!
