We love the idea of posting images everyday and writing about what happened. But the truth is we are very slack when it comes to these things,
and promising a story a day will only end up in disappointment. So instead, we thought that we would capture our week in photography and then we would only need to sit and write once a week. I am sure we can deal with that!
At the start of our week, we were all very excited to see that blossoms have now made an appearance in the garden. It was just what we needed to help us with the final push to the end of our first Ballarat winter, which I have been informed has been very mild this year! I have also just been informed that last year it snowed here in NOVEMBER! So, perhaps we shall not get too carried away with sending off winter just yet.

Monday was a day that fills me with stay at home mother joy. We baked! Now, they were only honey joys and the cornflakes were stale, but we wore a couple of aprons from my collection (I do have one), we cranked that oven up to 175˚ and cooked those bad boys. Due to the staleness of the cornflakes they were quite chewy, but I am quite a fan of a chewy treat. That being said, most of those honey joys are still sitting in the cake dome 6 days later. Grandpa came to visit on Wednesday. He got to get some good grandkid cuddles in during his quick stop.

Maya has taken to making her own lunch. I’m not allowed to make it anymore, unless she has something better to do with her time. These sandwiches have 1 inch thick butter on them.

But if you’re going to spend that afternoon swimming, who cares if you eat half a tub of butter.

Then sickness came to town! The house went into lockdown, with Nathan and I getting horrible throat infections. And what do you do when you are stuck on the couch all day. Take self portraits, of course.

But wait the day got better. I had to ring Telstra and ask them to explain to me yet another OUTRAGEOUS bill. Discovering a random $100 put on top of my bill as an ‘adjustment fee’. They apologised and took it off, but it took 44:57 minutes to get there. How about not putting it there at all?

But all was not lost. As the sickness clouds parted and the sun came out, so did we! Friday afternoon was spent in the garden we love so much. The first of many beautiful, sunny afternoons spent together out here. (Please note: I was still feeling a bit sick, so please take no notice of Pepper’s outfit).

Today, Saturday, Maya had her first Ballarat birthday party. It is so great that she is making friends in our new home town. We have another one to go to tomorrow! We have spent so much time going to birthday parties steering kids away from sweet treats and offering celery sticks and cream cheese (me being one of them, so boring), so it was a nice change to see a good old fashioned food colouring fiesta! I was a mean mum and limited Maya to one cup of red cordial, but we did sneak a couple of those cheetos I must admit.
